REGRESIÓN (REGRESSION) by Alejandro Amenábar

The Plot: Angela (Emma Watson) accuses her father of raping her during a Satanic Mass. A detective (Ethan Hawke) and a psychologist (David Thewlis) try do discover the truth and who’s behind a possible satanic cult.

The cast: Well, no one is specially good in this one. Ethan Hawke is over-acting, Emma Watson plays her usual sly personality and, as a kind of charlatan, David Thewlis doesn’t flee from his previous characters. None of them convinced me.

The Movie: Alejandro Amenábar’s THE OTHERS is a modern classic of the horror genre and the idea of having him deal with the subject of the satanic cults craze of the late 70s/ early 80s, was very appealing to me. Unfortunately, this is a boring thriller with few glimpses of the supernatural, with no suspense at all and a highly predictable plot. By the end, I got the idea that nothing interesting really happened and I just wished that, at least, Amenábar had manage to give the movie a dread atmosphere. A big disappointment!

My Rate: 2 (from 1 to 10)
